I know it’s almost Christmas, but I’m not quite done with fall yet. And since I only removed the pumpkins from my front porch yesterday, I think this is still fitting.
This year was the busiest fall I can ever remember in my life. Our family has the incredible opportunity to farm a little bit which makes for some really long hours. Fall is also the height of wedding season, so with crazy work schedules for both of us, it created a lot of stress and a few tears, but it was also a very rewarding season.
On October 1, we hosted the second annual Danielle Stewart Photography party for all my 2017 couples. I am continually amazed by the awesome couples I get to photograph. It’s super fun to invite them to our home and serve a meal on our front porch. My hope is that every person leaves knowing how much I love and appreciate them. I’m already looking forward to next year’s porch party!
We’ve been enjoying some new critters on the farm the past few months. Some good friends allowed us to “borrow” their sheep and we both fell in love with having livestock and how darling they look grazing in the pasture. The Saturday after Thanksgiving, Garret and I attended a sheep sale and purchased two more of our own. “Bianca” is pregnant with twins and we look forward to welcoming some lambs in January.
November is a big birthday month in the Stewart family. Our niece shares my love of horses so Garret helped me build the most awesome gift, a wooden horse with a real saddle. I kind of wanted to keep it for myself.
When harvest ended, Garret and I decided to start a weekly date night. It’s been something really fun to plan and look forward to. Before it got too cold, we built a fire and cooked supper and s’mores over it. It was such a simple thing to do, but something we rarely make time for in our busy lives. Taking the time to sit out under the stars gave me a deeper appreciation for my home and the life I get to live.
I’m always grateful to live in a place that has seasons. Fall was strangely warm and insanely busy, but it was wonderful. Now with my weddings finished for the year and Christmas just around the corner, bring on winter!
