There’s something magical about winter weddings this one was no different. The air was brisk, but the day started off with bright sunlight that filled my heart with happiness on my drive to the beautiful church in Ashton, IL. I photographed Sam and Dana‘s engagement session (view it here) back in November and we instantly connected. Being a part of their wedding day felt like celebrating with two old friends and I couldn’t help but cheer inside when the pastor introduced them as Mr and Mrs for the first time… and get a little teary eyed as they shared their first dance.
One of my favorite parts of most wedding days is usually the speeches. It’s fun to hear what the people closest to the couple have to say. Dana’s maid of honor (her sister) shared how one night the family was discussing “how do you know when you’ve found ‘the one’?” and Dana’s response was “When your face hurts cause’ you can’t stop smiling!” Watching her and Sam together, there’s absolutely no question how happy Sam makes her. Sam and Dana… wishing you 101 years of happiness together. May you never stop smiling.
Love, love, love the fur.
The groom dancing with the flower girl gets me every time.
